These hair sticks are 6 inches long, with about a 3 inch drop. The wood is lightly stained, and then sealed with wax. The wax gives it a nice finish that helps grip your hair just a little bit, but doesn't snag or pull.
Hint: If you have really straight, slippery hair like I do, try spritzing with setting lotion first and pinning your hair up when it's still damp. That will give your hair the body it needs to hold the bun while you secure the sticks. If you do it right, you'll have lovely curls when you take your hair down!
